@Jon- Thanks for the info. I also happen to agree with you as far as sourcing felines goes. We've currently got 3 former shelter cats -- all great critters and over the years have had other strays / shelter adoptees as well.
Besides the humanitarian aspect of rescuing a critter from a pound/shelter AND the sustantial cost savings aspect, there is a practical point as well -- it's MUCH more effective to gauge to "personality" of a potential adult cat adoptee rather than a kitten (such as one typical gets from a breeder).
That "fold" is a cute one though ... no denying that.
I couldn't play the video, so maybe it's better explained there, but wouldn't be funny if his "jump" was really only a small hop of a couple of feet out of a helicopter hovering near ground? heh heh
@jan- PetShark is right, but to elaborate a little... I think you are either more familiar with diesel engines (which indeed don't use sparkplugs!), or are mixing up the car's starter (powerful little electric motor that spins the engine over while you "crank" it) with ignition system (fires spark plugs to light the gasoline-air mixture.
A friend of mine got a job repossessing cars for a car finance college when we were in college. It was pretty easy since he (as a representative for the true owner of the car, the finance company) could get the key codes right from the dealer. He'd knock out some new keys, park a few blocks away, and just walk right up and drive away. He usually tried to take the car from deadbeat's place of work -- the odds for a "bad" confrontation were a lot lower if they were at their employer. When it got REALLY amusing was when the deadbeat would have the car backed with expensive personal property like photographic equipment or band equipment. The loss of that usually got them in teh mood to come up with the $ they owed. You probably can't do that anymore, though...
Reminds me of an airshow in NJ in the early 1980s where visitors could climb into the cockpit of a USAF (I think) jet. Some kid pulled the ejection seat handle, which was regretably not deactivated. He got launched a couple of hundred feet into the air w/o being buckled into anything and bounced onto the tarmac. Not pretty... I'm betting there were forms to fill out on that one.
Sadly, most Jews today are so "reformed" (picking and choosing only the easiest stuff to follow) that they have thrown away most of their >5000 yrs of tradition. It's not just a religious issue, but a matter of culture, history, and common tradition... But, ultimately it's their call. Mazel tov.
@ Vonskippy- Yes, as long as the crooks are driving a non-computer controlled car, the device should be ineffective. But isn't just the fuel system that will need to be old-tech -- you'll need a non-electronic ignition system, which takes you back a long ways. Your Phd ass may recall that fuel, air, AND SPARK are needed for combustion. Anyone watching helicopter chase scenes will observe that '69 Chargers don't pop up all that often.

I think that 2 year old ketchup-smearer is a better artist.
