Ah yes, awareness. The best way to feel smugly satisfied without doing much of anything at all.

I wish some rational people would come out for animal rights, it irks me that the walking punchlines at PETA ruin a good cause so they can stage stunts and get attention.

What nonsense is this? It's very easy to choose neat stories that aren't political. This site does it every day. They also cram some stupid political stories in here from time to time. This one is a perfect example - politically charged, with the weak disclaimer "Whether or not you agree with what they say, it’s easy to enjoy the art itself." If you want to post comic book art, there are millions of pages of art that aren't blatant political propaganda. Many of those pages have objectively better art, too. This was just a contributor who wanted to post a political message she agreed with.

Why don't you just stop putting anything on here that is political? I've never understood the apparently insatiable desire people have to inject politics into everything. Post neat stuff, and don't post things with political content. The world is full of fascinating things that have nothing to do with politics.

Terrible idea, I'll never understand why people are so willing to give the government more power over their lives.

That being said, aside from religious reasons, I cannot fathom why anybody wouldn't be a donor. When I die, hack me apart and use anything that'll help somebody who is living. Best case scenario, somebody gets my eyes or my liver and I eventually possess them.

@Pile of Pooh

They do it through intelligent resource management. They take zero handouts from the government or anybody else. If I remember correctly, the parents make their money from commercial real estate, but don't quote me.

What always makes me laugh about the Duggars is that people always say "Ugh, we're so overpopulated why do they do this?" If you're worried about overpopulation, a handful of people with weird religious beliefs spawning and then providing for their families aren't what you should be focusing on.

It's a threat because these weapons look even remotely real. If he (or another prisoner) were to take one and pretend it was real, an inmate or a guard might get seriously hurt. The inmate if guards thought he was dangerous and hurt him for their own safety, or the guards if they allowed themselves to be taken hostage.

I guess you don't really understand that in a prison environment, there are many dangerous individuals. If you seriously cannot see why having fake, vaguely realistic-looking swords in a prison environment could be dangerous, you should be locked up for your own good.

As much as OWS sympathizers want to believe that large groups of people don't require police attention, any group that large absolutely does. Not just for the protesters, but also for the criminals who prey on the protestors. Even if you think they seem like really swell guys.

Plus, rent-a-cops can't get back some grad student's Macbook back should it get stolen.

If you seriously equate "So what do you do?" as some kind of stealth question designed to suss out your social status, you are so paranoid and miserable you shouldn't be talking to regular people anyway. Pull your head out of your ass and realize that maybe, just maybe, people who talk to you want to know more about you not so they can classify your status, but instead because they are curious. I'll never, ever understand these miserable, bitter, paranoid losers who believe everything is a slight against them. Shameful.

This article also suggests that only Americans ask these types of questions, as though in other countries talking to somebody consists entirely of "What's your favorite color?"
