10) America comes off looking bad on poverty only because the poverty level in the US is set higher than anywhere else. You can have a couple cars, a nice house, TVs in every room, secure job, etc., and still be counted as impoverished.

9) High illiteracy rates are greatly inflated by the large number of immigrants, who don't even have English as their first language.

8) Levels of belief are commonly cyclical, this decline could easily turn around in a few years. The US is still by far the most religious 1st world country.

7) Apple only has more cash reserves (sitting around, doing nothing) than the Fed. The US Fed has an annual income of somewhere around 6 trillion USD... Apple does not.

5) It's increased life expectancy that has changed common causes of death. You won't likely die of cancer or heart disease if you're only going to live to 50 due to other causes, anyhow... They usually take longer than that to become critical.

If you want to be seriously pedantic, see constant misuse of: "healthy" e.g: "Ostrich burgers are healthy!"
No they aren't. The ostriches may have been healthy, back before you turned them into burgers, but that doesn't affect me in any way.

If you meant "Eating ostrich burgers will make you healthy" the word to describe that is "healthFUL". e.g: "Vegetables are healthful." Nothing dead can ever be "healthy."
It's not some long-lost word, it's just plain incorrect conjugation... Like someone saying "You're very beauty."

I don't think ANYONE actually uses either "mm" or "dd" at all, unless forced to do so. mm/dd implies you add a leading zero for single-digit months/days, which I've never seen anyone do on real-life paperwork. It makes sense on computers, but that's about it. Similarly, most people abbreviate the year to two-digits. Was anyone here really taught to write the date as 09/09/1999?

Instead, m/d/yy is commonly used in the USA. Though I often prefer to write the 3-letter month to avoid any possible confusion... Eg. Jan/7/2025. And across the world, on computers, anyone sane only EVER uses YYYY-MM-DD, since nothing else will sort correctly.

Makes it sound like a bucket-brigade with kidneys! Of course it's really just a matter of donors with incompatible loved-ones who need a kidney, doing a donation-swap with somebody else in the same unfortunate situation. I anxiously await a future where organs grown from scratch in a lab save lives and eliminate the need for transplants all-together.

At any given-weight, a man will be at least 1/3rd stronger than a woman (so says all Olympic weight-lifting records!). And men weigh about 1/3rd more than women on average, compounding the advantage. There's always the chance an extremely large female athlete will cross paths with a particularly puny man who barely uses his muscles, but that is quite uncommon.

Only the music makes it creepy. The voice could be GLaDOS, and she won awards for singing "Still Alive". Just looks like some SFX artist wanted to put an animatronic bot through its paces, videotaped for a portfolio or posterity. Probably built for some TV or movie production, hence having a set handily available for use after-hours.

Try your luck with a random creepypasta:

All those years... All those revisions... And yet they still couldn't install $10 seat belts, so the crew doesn't go flying across the bridge and getting injured, every time there's some tiny impact or explosion.

I never "got" City Slickers. It deals with very dark, adult themes, but at the same time, they very carefully dance around some of the topics, trying not to quite say it, as if there are children in the room... That gives it a strained, attempted Disney family-friendly feel to it, which really doesn't work, and doesn't make it any more suitable for younger audiences who won't understand the main topics at all.

First, it was TWO MMA women attacking a man, (not just one as most of the accounts makes it sound), and included "a soccer kick to the man’s groin":
http://mmajunkie.com/2015/06/the-story-of-the-time-leslie-smith-beat-up-a-handsy-hippy-in-san-francisco

It could have gone very, very wrong. Two trained fighters attacking one man is probably good enough legal justification for him to pull out a knife and kill them both on the spot...

And they were also lucky he was either drunk or just a poor fighter, as the tables could easily have turned. With women's lib, it has become politically incorrect to point out that just about any adult man is stronger than two women. You need look no further than the military, where women who are trained to fight, never-the-less get raped all the damn time.

This is downright silly. They're putting a heck of a lot of effort into curing one insignificant symptom. The underlying problem is much more serious, and toilets don't help to fix it. Forget the toilet, I'd want a crowbar available in any elevator I was stuck in...
