Dogma's Comments

I started out as a dog person, but we took in a cat who was going to be put to sleep. I fell in love with him, because he was so dog-like. I went on to love all cats, but I still love dogs. So when it comes to animals, I am totally bi.

The high school where I taught offered auto mechanics, auto body, nursing, and woodshop, in which the students participated in actual building projects. I think that's great. Society will always need plumber, electricians, auto mechanics, etc., and some of those jobs pay very well indeed.

Both my parents had sudden deaths from heart attacks. At the time, I thought it was awful, but in retrospect, I think it was best for all of us. I certainly want to go quickly. I have left specific instructions with my doctor and my daughters that I do not want any heroic measures, etc. I want to die with dignity, and, I hope, very quickly the way my parents did.

We had a cat who loved Froot Loops. Every morning daughter #2 (who would only eat Froot Loops for breakfast) would leave a few loops floating. Leo would delicately pick them out, using only one claw. Another cat so loved cantaloupe that if I left one on the counter, he would eat through the rind. One was crazy about peas, and could smell them cooking through closed windows and doors. Another loved Chinese food. Still another loved pretzels. I could go on, but you get the idea.

Knott's Berry Farm sold phosphorescent paint. Pretty much all watches had "radium dials". There were lots of dangerous chemicals around in those days (40s and 50s).

This amazed me. I always thought a hurdy gurdy was the same thing an organ grinder (with dancing monkey) used. I had no idea it was like this, or that it dated to the Middle Ages.
