THE CULTURE WE CREATE IS A VICIOUS LOOP
…even more so when its roots remain ambiguous. Images shape us, whether we want them to or not. Film Noir, the iconic genre filled with morally questionable choices and stark images is also the genre of contrasts, including the greatest of all: love and violence.
Unlike any genre before it, Noir glorifies both. Is it because these two profound human experiences are strangely connected, or were these dark films a way a puritanical society's collective unconscious could justify its violent fantasies and reframe them as love?
This video asks if the lines between love and violence really remain blurred, as pop culture often would have us believe. Is this all really just a bad dream? And if it is, do we even want to wake up?
