Beer Barrel Motorcycle Sidecar

(Photo: BBC)

It's called The Beer Engine. The Hogs Back Brewery in Tongham, Surrey, UK commissioned this custom motorcycle. As you can see, the sidecar is a beer keg, spigot and all. The gear shift lever is a beer engine pull. The owners use the motorcycle to draw the attention of crowds at festivals and other public events.

Beer barrels are more rounded, shorter, and the metal hoops are sturdier as beer barrels not only have to hold the liquid, but also have to withstand the CO2 pressure of a carbonated beverage. Beer can easily develop 200kPa (30 PSI) of pressure or more...

I'm a brewer and maltster btw... :-)

You certainly know barrels. When Recyclart labeled it at a wine barrel, I had guessed that they hadn't looked further into this particular bike. Maybe I was wrong.
