Santa Strawberry

Stawberries with whipped cream are absolutely heavenly, but if you're gonna enjoy them this time of year, you might as well turn them into tiny Santas -especially when it's this easy.

The Traditional Peppermint Pig

In Saratoga Springs, New York, it's time to ship out the traditional peppermint pigs. It's hard to pinpoint where the tradition actually started, but pigs have always been symbolic of prosperity. In upstate New York, the pig made it into the rituals surrounding Christmas. Now Mike Fitzgerald, owner of Saratoga Sweets, is scrambling to fill holiday orders.

In the old days, the pig was placed on the Christmas dinner table. Father would wrap it in a napkin and crack it with the steel rod used to sharpen knives so the family could share the sweet-tasting bits, Fitzgerald said. But by the mid-20th century, the area holiday tradition went the way of lit candles on Christmas trees.

In 1988, Fitzgerald made a first run of 60 peppermint pigs at the request of the local historical society. He was surprised to see people lining up to buy them, many of them older people who fondly recalled smashing pigs when they were young. He sold out his run and never looked back.

Crocheted Nutella

Nutella

Take that out of your mouth. Although your immediate reaction was understandable, you will not be able to taste Nutella here.

Unless they make Nutella-flavored yarn. Is there such a thing? Perhaps one could infuse yarn with Nutella flavoring. It would undoubtedly be a popular product.

Better Eat Them Before They Turn

Sure these Walking Dead Rick cookies are cute now, but as soon as you bite into them, they'll turn really ugly and reanimate into something evil. I guess you'd better munch them all in one bite.

Burrito Bomber

Photo: Burrito Bomber

I have heard of these sorts of ideas for a while now, people using drones to deliver food, but now we finally get to see it in action! As you can see from the image above, a pretty rudimentary plan was put into place. Then again, this seems pretty ground breaking in terms of delivery food. Here is how it works.

You connect to the Burrito Bomber web-app and order a burrito. Your smartphone sends your current location to our server, which generates a waypoint file compatible with the drone's autopilot.

We upload the waypoint file to the drone and load your burrito in to our custom made Burrito Delivery Tube.

The drone flies to your location and releases the Burrito Delivery Tube. The burrito parachutes down to you, the drone flies itself home, and you enjoy your carne asada.

Whale Skin Cocktail is Illegal

The Nightjar bar in Hoxton, East London, England, had a cocktail on its online menu called the Moby Dick. One of the ingredients was listed as "whaleskin infusion." The ingredient means a small strip of whaleskin that was soaked in a bottle of Scotch whisky. But that small strip is illegal.

There is a Europe-wide ban on the sale of whale meat and products, except under strict restrictions in Greenland and Denmark.

Police were tipped-off in October that the bar was serving whale skin illegally, and raided the City Road premises on December 3.

It was carried out by officers from the Met's Wildlife Crime Unit and an officer from the United Kingdom Border Force.

"One item from the premises was seized," said a police spokesman. "This has been sent for analysis."

No arrests have been made.

The whaleskin was purchased in Japan last year by an employee of the bar, which has issued an apology. The drink has been removed from the menu. Link -via Arbroath
