Everything I know about Vermont I learned by watching Newhart, so this home for sale on Zillow fits in nicely to my mental image of the place. The four bedroom, two bedroom, four cell house was built in in 1880 and later served as the residence of the Essex County jailer until 1969.

This window is...I don't know...maybe a New England thing. That's on the top floor. Let's go down to the basement.

There's a heavy steel door with a pass-through window. We'll ignore the sign that says "do not disturb."

Fortunately, the cells are unoccupied. Yes, it was the jail. This part of the house measure 28 by 40 feet.

The cells themselves might need some remodeling depending upon the needs of your guests and the degree to which their visits are voluntary.
