This is what happens when adjacent countries have their patriotic holidays so close together on the calendar. Just like the Trojan Horse, this gift of a Canada Day cake came with a surprise inside! Canadian recipient and redditor TruthGoliath posted the deception. Of course, it was all in fun, and you can make a cake like this with directions from Betty Crocker. The lovely frosting job is not included with the recipe. Link
There are tons of red, white and blue food recipes out there for your Independence Day party, but dying foods a few colors is pretty boring and basic. If you really want to impress, make firecracker cupcakes that actually explode in your mouth courtesy of Pop Rocks. It's a fireworks show in your mouth and only patriots are invited.
Can you think of a better name for wine-infused popcorn than Populence? While the company sells a few different flavors, their newest are boozy treats indeed. You can choose between Pinot Noir Drizzle and Sauvignon Blanc Kettle. Sounds good to me!
Beer and donuts! It's like a meal designed for Homer Simpson. Tieghan used a full bottle of beer for her marshmallow recipe and then placed the marshmallows between sliced graham cracker donuts. This magnificent sandwich is then finished with hot fudge, peanut butter and graham cracker crumbs.
Nothing proclaims 'Merica quite like purple potatoes! Er, I mean, bacon! Bevcooks of Rock Ur Party made this patriotic pizza with bacon, purple potatoes (or, as she calls them, "little blue disks of freedom"), alfredo sauce and cheese.
Steph sent this story to Cake Wrecks. When her son wanted a cake to celebrate his half-birthday, she told him he could have half a cake. Then she talked to an unnamed person at an unnamed bakery.
"Think you could make me a half a cake?"
"Well, nooo, 'cause then we'd like, have to throw away the other half."
"Well, it'll be special order so you can just make one cake layer, right? And then cut it in half and stack it. Like a layer cake!"
"I don't know what you mean."
{{ repeats previous statements with hand motions }}
"Ok, like, I have no idea what you're wanting here."
"Look, just bake one round cake, cut it in half and stick the two sides together for a layer cake. Makes half a cake."
"I think that'll be really messy."
"Sure. Ok, just... Whatever. Do what you've gotta do."
The picture here is an example of how most bakeries sell half a cake, even though most don't cut a written message in half. This is not what Steph got. See the result of her request at Cake Wrecks. Link
Wir Machen Cupcakes of Munich made these incredible Lord of the Rings cupcakes in celebration of the release of The Hobbit. I don't know about you guys, but I'd be wary of the one featuring The One Ring.
Mashed potatoes and gravy are an essential part of a healthy breakfast. But Sandra Denneler has made them even better. This is, believe it or not, actually a mound of cheesecake covered with caramel and sprinkled with chocolate. You can find her recipe at the link.

It looks imposing, but this tank is so poorly armored that it should break under your chopsticks. Brian Ashcraft of Kotaku tells us about this fishy tank:
As pointed out by Naver, a sushi restaurant called Kurisakiya began offering a tank sushi in honor of Japanese anime Girls und Panzer.
The military girls anime is set in the town of Oarai in Ibaraki Prefecture, which is where Kurisakiya is located. Thus, tank sushi!
Girls und Panzer features real Oarai locations, and that helps create local tourism: Anime fans often like visiting real-world locales featured in their favorite cartoons.
Gorditos, a Mexican restaurant chain in Seattle, offer massive, 4-pound burritos. Each is roughly the size of a newborn baby. To encourage the comparison, the restaurant offers free burritos to customers who let their babies be photographed next to the gut-busters:
As a result the walls of the eaterie are covered with framed images of swaddled babies next to their burrito counterparts.
After a diner recently posted an image of Gorditos' 'wall of fame' to their Redditaccount, dozens reminisced about their dining experiences.
One explained that 'two people can barely finish' the wodge of tortilla and another added that as takeout meal it can 'last for days'.
Looking for an ultimate summertime treat? Then why not try combining the greatness of a s'more with an ice cream bar with these great Campfire Bars. Essentially, you just freeze marshmallow cream in graham crackers, then dip them in chocolate and then freeze the whole sandwich. Excuse me, I've got to go get some graham crackers and marshmallow cream now.
