This Color-Changing Cake Is Not a Lie

As the cake turns, it changes color. Also, I get hungrier. How?

YouTube user CharlotteSometimes doesn't explain, but commenter Nyphetamine Blue says that it's done by airbrushing color onto the icing from different directions. The ridges help delineate where one color begins and another ends. Turning the cake exposes alternate sides of the ridges.

looks more like they're using prismatic shifting paint pigments, tiny particles of mica that have been coated with titanium which is then etched to refract light in different ways depending on the angle. i wouldn't eat it...

I use the pointer on my cats, but I feel they make most dogs too crazy. I think dogs need the satisfaction of catching something. The dogs that I have witnessed chasing a laser became frantic, over excited, and borderline violent. It did not even seem like they were having fun.

"I wonder if there is any human equivalent to what animals experience when they encounter a laser pointer’s red dot." It makes me think of all those movies where something horrible but mysterious is happening on the horizon, and everyone is just standing around and staring with "what the f..." expressions on their faces.
