Cadbury Scotch Eggs

We've previously featured a Scotch Cadbury Creme Egg before, but it's clear that Perry Santanachote of Thrillist has improved upon the concept. She made this beautiful-looking chocolate wonder by first freezing a dozen Cadbury Creme Eggs. Then she coated them with chocolate cake mix powder, followed by egg whites, then cocoa powder, and finally--this is the brilliant part--Cocoa Krispies cereal.

Santanachote deep fried each egg for about a minute or two. Pictured above are the gorgeous results.

Can't sell Hershey as chocolate in the UK, mostly 'cos it ain't chocolate. I did see someone was suggesting it was all publicity stunt like Coke/NewCoke, fishing for a "Bring back proper eggs" campaign. Serve 'em right if it doesn't happen and people just vote with their wallets and buy something nicer/cheaper/better.

Did they change the recipe in the UK, too? I had heard that only the US version was changed, but that Hershey forbid the import of British eggs to the US because we'd notice how much better they are.

Cadbury's Creme Eggs have taken a bit of a nose-dive in the UK this Easter. Kraft have stopped using anything even remotely resembling chocolate and are selling them in fives. Everyone knows chocolate eggs are supposed to be made from chocolate, and eggs (at least in the UK) generally come in half-dozens. Kraft claim they're selling well, but the only shopkeeper I know says she's having trouble shifting them.
