One Instargam commenter quips, "The Ring but make it Renaissance." That's about right. Tanya Gomelskaya composes photorealistic paintings and sculptures that emerge from the canvas. It's not that the subject looks at the observer, but the subject pursues the observer beyond the frame of the canvas.

Thankfully, not all of the compositions are supernatural monsters pursuing us. But they remain haunted and pull at the edges of the frame, desiring to either escape their boundaries or hide from the three-dimensional world beyond them.

There's some artistic nudity involved. But Gomelskaya's methods permit her to use such traditions discreetly without offending sensitive tastes.
