People In Their Forties Give Life Lessons To Young People

They say that life begins at 40, and as I grow older I have come to realize how truthful this statement is. People who are now in their forties have enough wisdom and the necessary life skills to survive and enjoy life. And now that they truly have experienced life, they give these useful life lessons to the next generation.

A few months ago, a Reddit user named peeledraspberry asked all the folks over 40, who feel happy about their lives, to share some of their best advice to all the lost twentysomethings out there.

Life Advice from a 40 year old: My mother had 5 children. 3 of us turned out to be perfectly normal, everyday people. One child was above average, while one was a little below. That's how nature operates. And those 5 children 40 years later have changed very little (other than having kids and developing back issues). Point I'm trying to make is - everyone is unique, and it's a giant waste of time ever trying to live up to anyone else's standards. People put a lot of stock in free will. I submit to you that determinism is what's really in control, and there's nothing wrong with that. Some people are born extremely creative, and some people are very practical. And that's what colors life. Oh, and try not eat too much bread. Older you get, your body will struggle with bread. Eat more rice and beans and spinach and less bread. You'll thank me later, when you're 40. :>
