Asians Not Cool With BBC’s Egg Fried Rice Video

As someone of Asian descent, I can say that a part of me died when the woman did not wash the rice before cooking, and then washing it after it was cooked. That’s clearly not the right way to cook rice. Aside from that, metal should not be used to scrape the saucepan.

If there’s something on the Internet that could trigger an Asian, it might just be BBC’s Egg Fried Rice Video.

In the words of Uncle Roger, “who cooks rice like this?”

Rinsing rice removes much of the enriched vitamins sprayed onto the rice grain surface during manufacture. Rinsing removed 77% of folate, 57% of niacin and 54% of thiamin from polished and parboiled rice. Rinsing had almost no effect on vitamins in whole grain brown rice.Nov 2, 2015

I don't have a problem with her method of measuring, use whatever works. However, if you have to drain your rice, it's either not done or you've used too much water. And I cannot cook rice without rinsing it first, no matter how many people tell me it's not necessary.
