Trying to Find a Job as a College Graduate in 2020

You have to feel sorry for the graduates of 2020. They get no commencement ceremony, no unemployment benefits, no stimulus check for most of them, and they are thrust into a world that's had a weird job market for years and became infinitely weirder in a pandemic. College placement offices are closed, and have been for months.

There are quite a few things they don't tell you about getting a job when you finish school. One thing is that when companies say "entry level," they don't mean your first job, they just mean your first job with them, so they can pay you the lowest salary they have. Another thing is that the required qualifications they post are a wish list, not a deal breaker, no matter how they make it sound. Good luck out there. -via Digg

that's what you get when you conform to a liberal media created hysterical panic hell bent on destroying the western way of life by any means necessary while colleges as well as the typically mini tyrannical socialists who occupy them as they are being brainwashed can suck my D cuz i don't "feel" anything for them

Anytime the economy is bad the employers can state and limit jobs to ridiculous requirements. For a while I was too experienced to get the very bottom level jobs but not experienced enough to get the just above the bottom level job. During this time I was turned away from a part-time job at Staples because the manager was afraid I would take his job.

Their web site lists only 1398 jobs across all Big Lots stores, all for "Temporary Part-time -Store Associate/Stocker" - that's barely enough to employ my high school graduating class.

I have four college graduates this year. One is going on to grad school, if they have classes this fall. One will be a housewife, because her immigration status bars her from holding a job for a year. One is stressing through the job search now. And one has a job for which he is infinitely qualified, but it's on hold until the federal government grants him a work permit, which they should have done two months ago.
