Even Jack Nicholson needs a minute to get into character for his iconic role as Jack Torrance in Stanley Kubric's 1980 horror film The Shining.
Oh, and that scene where Nicholson broke down the door with the axe? It turned out that the prop department had built him a special door that could easily be broken down. But Nicholson had worked as a volunteer fire marshal and broke the door much too easily. They had to use a real, and sturdier, door instead.
