Tour the Big Mo!

The USS Missouri is one of the last surviving US battleships. Not present at the attack on Pearl Harbor, she saw battle across the Pacific and around the world. Today you can tour the 'Big Mo', as seen in this series of photographs. It's docked on Ford Island in Pearl Harbor, on Battleship Row. The USS Missouri is historic for two main reasons: 1) The Japanese Surrender was formally executed aboard this ship, and 2) The Big Mo never lost a crewman in all its years of service. Today it is a floating museum, having been decommissioned in 1992, but it is still in 'service' in a manner of speaking. All is explained in the collection of photographs, so take a trip back in time to when the cry "Battle Stations" meant serious business.

Hi! She's actually the "Mighty Mo," and is located on the other side of Pearl Harbor from the NPS site/USS Bowfin. A very cool site to visit; you can even see where a kamikaze slammed into her hull.

The Mighty Mo is at Pearl. It's sister ships of the Iowa class are docked all around the US as museum ships. The Iowa is in Long Beach, California. The New Jersey is in Camden, New Jersey. Wisconsin is docked at Norfolk, Virginia.
