Loving Vincent: An All-painting Feature Film

There have been movie biographies of Vincent Van Gogh before, but the as-yet-unfinished film Loving Vincent has a twist. It will be the first feature-length movie made entirely of paintings. The animated film will require 56,800 oil on canvas paintings, 12 for every second of the movie. The paintings, by a crew of 100 artists, will all evoke Van Gogh’s unique style, and will reference 120 of his works. The plot is based on 800 of his letters.
