Adam West and Burt Ward on the Set of Batman, 1966

Batman
the movie was the first feature film based on the character. The 1966 film, made in the glow of enthusiasm for the 1966-1968 television series, starred most of the TV series cast. Adam West starred as Batman and Bruce Wayne, Burt Ward was Robin and Dick Grayson, Lee Meriwether was The Catwoman, Cesar Romero played The Joker, Burgess Meredith The Penguin and Frank Gorshin as The Riddler. Highbrow cinema it wasn't, but like the television show, many fans remember the cast and production as an irresistable combination of comic and camp.

This collection of photos from the set of Batman shows West, Ward and company in their caped and tighted finest, doing Batman and Robin type things, as well as other activities (like coffee breaking and making phone calls) of the non-superhero variety.
