Sony Patents the SmartWig

We’ve moved from desktop to laptop to tablet computers. The trend is toward mobile computing, especially computers that you can wear. That’s the premise of Google Glass and its competitors.

Here’s Sony’s response to this growing market: the SmartWig. The company has filed a patent for a mobile device that the user wears on his/her head.

It provides “tactile feedback to the user.” That means it vibrates when you have a new email or text message. It could also provide navigational assistance. You’re not sure where to go? Move in the directions of the vibrations on your scalp. A user can control it using the sideburns as buttons.
