When we last caught up with Emil Johannson, he was compiling an exhaustive genealogical analysis of Tolkien's world. As part of his LOTR Project, Johannson has also done some statistical analysis of the population of Middle-earth. Perhaps it isn't a good sample--Johannson uses only named characters. But he has compiled information about life expectancy, age distribution and more.

Ask a bunch of people how many females in the fist column; see how many say 450. The way it is presented makes the Y scale confusing, at least.

That's a poor way to display the data; it makes it look like females outnumber males. The bars should be side-by-side.
