Everything that I know about Canada I learned by watching South Park. But the show hasn't mentioned this fact. There's a sound that only Canadians can hear, various described as "a large diesel truck idling, a loud boom box or the bass vocals of Barry White."
The sound is detectable to people in Windsor, which lies on Canada's border with the United States. But Americans across the river can't hear it:

American officials contend there haven't been complaints on the U.S. side of the border. Michigan's Department of Environmental Quality looked last year at whether the companies at Zug started up any new machinery in the past two years that might be causing the noise and found nothing.
"The only place I am hearing noise from is Canada—from politicians complaining," Mr. Bowdler said.

I have found however, that there are some sounds that only Americans can hear.
example: when I turn on "Fox news" all I hear is a babbling drone of incoherent peeps
Since it sounds much like a diesel train engine revving up to roll it doesn't bother me much; I grew up around trains.
