What you see here is a German soldier, wearing only a nightshirt and boots (plus war gear), standing in front of a latrine, with a cat on his head. This picture is estimated to have been taken around 1917. There is some speculation that this may be visual pun on the word katzenjammer, meaning hangover. Link
