Raiders Of The Lost Archives-A Comparison

(YouTube Link)

This eye opening, and beautifully edited, video shows a shot-by-shot comparison of Raiders of the Lost Ark and 31 other films made between 1919 and 1973.

To say that there are a few similarities would be an understatement, so obviously this is due to Spielberg doing his homework, right? *wink*

If you've seen this before, good for you! Enjoy it again, why don't you?

Most of those are REALLY reaching (ooh, look this old movie has a jungle too, Spielberg is a copycat!), and besides it's no secret that Indiana Jones was based on those older movies and serials. It was intentional.

I admire the work that went into this, and it's an interesting look back in time, but the description really had me expecting to find that Indiana Jones had directly borrowed shots (scene-for-scene) from older movies.

I guess it's proof that you can re-create any movie with clips from other movies.

The Jones series was a homage, well except for that Crystal Skull junk, to the weekly serial movies that both Spielberg and Lucas would watch as kids, so yeah it wouldn’t be too difficult to find similarities with 31 of those movies.
