The Money Chart

Randall Munroe at xkcd put together a chart about money, so massive that you'll have to enlarge a few times just to read it. The statistics cover what things cost, what people earn, business profits, taxes, government spending, utilities, war, and more. The amounts of money for each are laid out in blocks for comparison. That's a lot of blocks. What is shown here, as compressed as it is, is just a portion. Link -via Boing Boing

In short a billion is a thousand million. A trillion is a thousand billion. I found this much more easy to see. http://www.pagetutor.com/trillion/index.html

The most interesting thing I found in that entire chart was the very last (foot)note: roughly 60% of the entire economic production of the human race throughout all time happened since 1980. Yes, that's not 1900 -- it's 1980. I don't know the source for that statement, but if true, I find that amazing.

Would Randall please make a similar, though much more complex, chart explaining the US tax codes, laws, etc.
It would be helpful to most of us.

I do beg your pardon.

OK, It would be helpful to ALL of us
