Happy Canada Day!

Canada Day (FĂȘte du Canada) celebrates the formation of Canada on July first, 1867. The holiday was once known as Dominion Day, but was changed after Canada gained full independence from Britain in 1982. You can learn more about the holiday at Wikipedia. Canadian Heritage has information about the celebrations in Ottawa and other parts of the country. http://www.pch.gc.ca/eng/1292265752243/1292265752246 -via the Presurfer

"How many times can the line divide,
How many ways to uphold your pride,
Fears uncontrolled just swole the tide,
Of blood in the streets while people die."

"Saying the same thing over again,
Repeatin' the same slogans,
we don't know where we've been"

I don't mean to be a scrooge, but "Proud to be Canadian" is a marketting slogan used by Molson Canadian. Pride is an elevated sense of self-worth. "I have an elevated sense of self-worth because I am Canadian".

This is a contingent domain of self-worth. "Proud to be National Socialist", "Proud to be Kmer Rouge", "Proud to be Stalinist-Russian", "Proud to be White Supremacist" Whatever the domain and whatever the contingency, to have your self-worth wrapped up in these things predisposes you to evil. Makes you a puppet.
