Parallel Worlds

Artist Ji Lee creates miniature rooms of furniture, and installs them on ceilings!
People fill the floor of their homes with furniture and walls with paintings and pictures. So why are the ceilings left empty? Decorating ceilings was a celebrated art form in the past centuries that somehow got lost through the reductionism of modernism. People don't look at the ceiling anymore. It's a dead space. So I wanted to bring a small wink to this space. I also liked the idea that somehow there's a parallel world which coexists with ours.

One of the installations in Lee's Parallel Worlds project includes R2D2 and a hippo! http://pleaseenjoy.com/project.php?cat=1&subcat=&pid=75&navpoint=4 -via Laughing Squid

I used to break the boundaries of dead or forgotten space with my photographs, collaging them onto the floor, up onto the ceiling, and into tight spaces. The commercially-minded people dismissed me as punk and anti-art but I was quite the opposite.

I married a Canadian lady over 52 years ago. I certainly didn't think of her being any different, although I thought the Canadian women were sharper dressers than their US counterparts at the time. She still is, and she also became an American citizen in 2004.

This video seems to be going over well with the Canadian half of the family. And I like it because it doesn't just look at eastern Canada quirks, like too many videos that would be analogous to videos making fun of the USA by only looking at the South. Both countries are big enough to have a variety of regional stupid quirks.
