Star Wars Cameos, Courtesy of Adidas

LucasFilm has bastardized the famous Cantina Star Wars scene to promote a new line of Adidas footwear (previously reported here). It's creative, but why did Adidas choose Star Wars? Seems like a strange choice for that brand.

LucasFilm created a special two minute commercial which inserts David Beckham, Daft Punk, Snoop Dogg, Franz Beckenbauer, Noel Gallagher, Ian Brown, Ciara, Jay Baruchel, and DJ Neil Armstrong into the famous Cantina Scene from Star Wars. I guess the revisionist explanation is that it is an “intergalactic 2010 FIFA World Cup™ viewing party.”

I think this is a great promo! It’s really well done and has a lot of attention to detail.

Boogie Studio remixed all of the original Star Wars cantina sound effects and character dialogue with the new ones from the celebrities and other characters.

It’s a fun campaign and a great way to kick off FIFA 2010.

Man, I'm either getting old or increasingly out-of-touch! Other than Beckham and Snoop (and a passing knowledge of who Noel Gallagher is, though I'd never recognize his face), I have no idea who those people are. Fun commercial, though...

Yeah, it's to promote the Adidas Originals Star Wars collaboration. Adidas made a lot of Star Wars themed apparel, including some amazing shoes. This was the first promo, which features one of the best imperial march remixes ever.

I saw this the other day and flipped my lid. The gear they're making is epic. I'm a total sneaker-head and love this.

The Darth Vader shell toes and the Storm Trooper and Rebellion mids. So hot.

I wouldn't said Adidas was at their Apex in the 70s. The mid-late 80s they were much bigger with the birth of the hip-hop scene (think Run DMC, Doug E Fresh, etc...all rocked Shell Toes).

I'm all about Reebok Classic Aces and Adidas Shell Toes today.
