Blogger Michael John Grist has a series of fantastic photos of various ghost towns around Japan. Located around former mining areas, these pictures capture the eerie decay of once vibrant communities, and looks like something out of a horror movie. This post showcases the Junior High School at Nichitsu, with links to other posts on the same town. Be sure to check out the entire series!

So strange......land and space is such a scarce commodity in Japan- I'm surprised the land wasn't sold and developed as maybe a resort area for the rich.
