Cell Phone Towers in Disguise

A transmitter tower is not, in itself, pretty. So phone companies put cell transmitters in existing structures, in natural heights such as trees, or build towers that look like something else. Weird News Files has a roundup of some places you never suspected a cell phone transmitter to be, such as this church tower. http://weirdnewsfiles.com/weird-photos/weird-stealth-cell-phone-towers-in-a-tree-near-you/ -Thanks, Drew Waters!

@Skipweasel,

It's actually ingenious to put a transmitter there. If you're too close to a tower (say, right below one), oftentimes you won't get a signal. By putting one there, they're discouraging people from using their cells near the gas pumps. :)

I can`t help but think that someone has just taken pictures of tall objects and imagined that they`re towers. Very neat concept though and my fav would have to be the cactus and the rock.

I'm tickled by the ones in petrol station price displays - in the UK we're often told not to use mobiles on forecourts but Shell rent out space in their price boards for cellphone base stations.
