Barbie: Secret Transgender Agenda?

I'm curious as to how many of you mock this as a parent. I'm neither for nor against the Christian Right, but I could see how this might worry a parent. I mean imagine if someone came up to your child at a young age and asked them if they were a boy or a girl.

A very noble endeavor if i do say so myself! There needs to be more gender subversion in our culture.

Oh for the love of .....BARBIE! Barbie is trying to encourage children to be "transgender'? I really don't think so. Barbie is trying to sell lots of stuff, mostly pink in color and entertain little girls ( and yes, some boys ) like she has for years and years. These people need to get lives!

Seems to me that this is perfectly reasonable. Some people genuinely don't know. I can see how this might be particularly true for physically male kids with an extensive Barbie collection. Sounds like someone's seeing science as a conspiracy against their worldview. Again.

I don't think that it's particularly /promotional/ of such confusion, though I suppose it could provide evidence of a subtle agenda or of random stupidity on the developer.

Really, I'd love to hear what percentage of people choose each option. And for boys who manage to make their way to Barbie.com, I think there's enough "girly stuff" there that this little tidbit won't really push any youngsters over the edge or anything.

I'd be more concerned about the various promotion of a culture of gross materialism and shallowness, quite honestly. And also slightly curious as to what exact sort of market research they may or may not be trying to pull with their polls.
