Agassi’s Wild Hair in the 1990s? Yep, a Wig!

Posted by Alex in Fashion, Sports on November 1, 2009 at 2:08 pm

Remember the wild hair of Andre Agassi in the 1990s? Yep, you guessed it: a wig!

"I asked myself: you want to wear a toupee? On the tennis court? I answered myself; what else could I do?"

But the wig began to disintegrate as he took a shower the night before the Paris final — "probably I used the wrong hair rinse," Agassi writes.

He panicked and called his brother Philly into the room. Together, they managed to clamp the wig together using clips and pins.

Agassi, 39, writes: "Of course I could have played without my hairpiece, but what would all the journalists have written if they knew that all the time I was really wearing a wig?

"During the warming-up training before play I prayed. Not for victory, but that my hairpiece would not fall off.

"With each leap, I imagine it falling into the sand. I imagine millions of spectators move closer to their TV sets, their eyes widening and, in dozens of dialects and languages, ask how Andre Agassi’s hair has fallen from his head."

Man Ripped Politician’s Wig Off, Got Jail Time for Depriving His “Freedom To Look Pretty”

Posted by Alex in Crime & Law, Politics on June 9, 2009 at 5:27 pm

Politics in Taiwan have always been rough, but this is downright dirty. A man was sentenced to 5 months in jail for tearing a wig off Taiwan legislator Chiu Yi. The sentence was for depriving Chiu of the "freedom to be pretty."

Yes, you read that right:

The Taipei District Court sentenced Huang Yung-tien, 50, to jail for snatching the toupee off the head of ruling Nationalist Party lawmaker Chiu Yi. Chiu has become a household name for his media-friendly offensives against the political opposition.

"The judge thought Chiu Yi had the freedom to wear what he wanted, and Chiu felt the wig made him look prettier," court spokesman Huang Chin-ming said. "The judge thinks that to remove it intentionally was to take away that right."

Bad Wig and Ugly Track Suit Walk

Posted by Alex in Sports, Travel on December 8, 2008 at 2:40 pm

I’m not sure why, but every year, there is an unusual New Year’s Day tradition in Seattle, Washington: The Bad Wig and Ugly Track Suit Walk.

All you have to do to participate is don the ugliest wig and track suit you have tucked away in your closet somewhere (I’m sure you have ‘em) and walk around Green Lake.

Hey, it’s easier than putting on a zombie make up! LinkThanks Marlow Harris!
