2,226 people assembled at a park in Mahwah, New Jersey, to form the largest smiley face composed of human bodies. This is nearly triple the current record, which was set earlier this year in Croatia:

Though officials from the Guinness Book of World Records were not on site, photos and counts from the night will be submitted to the record-keeping agency, and the record will be declared official after the counts are verified, Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli told Patch.

Yesterday, I posted a neat little tip to get rid of the smell from kitchen sponge by microwaving it, and Neatoramanaut Frau decided to share something equally amazing, and told us to blog about her amazing discovery. So here it is, just as she wrote it.

Oh, and by the way, we do carry a lot of really weird and wonderful ice trays in the NeatoShop. This one above is the Have An Ice Day Ice Tray ($7.95), which makes smiley face ice cubes (technically, ice ovals). Go on and take a look: Link

From soon after 8pm until just before 11pm the planets Venus and Jupiter will stare down from the western sky like two brilliant eyes. Directly below, the crescent moon will form a happy mouth.

"I think it will be very spectacular," Sydney Observatory’s astronomer, Nick Lomb, said. "The three brightest objects in the night sky will all be in the same patch of the sky."

As the night draws on, Dr Lomb predicted, "the smiley face" – with Venus playing the left eye and giant Jupiter the right – "will improve and become a little more compact".
