Relighting Trick

(YouTube link)

This looks way cool. You can ignite the particles in a stream of smoke! It's not so cool when you think about how this would work in a burning house. -via reddit

I've shown this trick to many people, but I've always done it with a match, not a candle. It's the fumes, not the quality of wax on the candle. Pretty neat close up though, and scary as hell when you think about what can happen under the right circumstances.

Candle?

I think this is a good demonstration of a phenomenon that has been showing up in TV crime shows for a couple of years - "flashover?" - though in that case it is addition of fuel (oxygen) rather than both that and more heat.

Ha! Saying that something is older than YouTube is a pretty weak analogy (5 years).

My apologies, GinePanino. I suppose I was the only person who is not familiar with this trick.
