umm, you understand that this can happen BECAUSE the candle is made from paraffin wax..which is Crude Oil based. Just as Fuel, hot paraffin gives off explosive fumes. you wont be able to do it with Bee's wax.
I think this is a good demonstration of a phenomenon that has been showing up in TV crime shows for a couple of years - "flashover?" - though in that case it is addition of fuel (oxygen) rather than both that and more heat.
I've shown this trick to many people, but I've always done it with a match, not a candle. It's the fumes, not the quality of wax on the candle. Pretty neat close up though, and scary as hell when you think about what can happen under the right circumstances.
