By John Farrier in Book & Lit on Jul 16, 2009 at 10:51 am

The largest book in the world is a photo collection entitled Bhutan: A Visual Odyssey Across the Kingdom. It measures five feet wide by seven feet long, weighs 133 pounds, and is 122 pages long. It was written by MIT scientist Michael Hawley to raise money for education in that very poor nation. Amazon is currently selling it for $30,000.

In the 1990s, there was an exhibit at the LA County Museum of art & artifacts from the age of Tamarlane (@14th Century) -- and there were several HUGE hand-done editions of the Koran and/or other Islamic religious books. Not sure whether they were actually larger than 5 feet by 7 feet, but one of them seemed like it was.
