Flying Penguins
(YouTube link)
Film maker and writer Terry Jones discovers a colony of penguins, which are unlike any other penguins in the world. It’s an ad for the BBC iPlayer. -via Arbroath
This has April Fools written all over it...
amazing CG, almost looks real, thumbs up!
When pigs umm, i mean, penguins fly
What April Fool? It really IS an ad for the BBC iPlayer!
Miss Cellania:
Nice one!
I actually thought that was real up until the penguins flew to the beach.
Very amusing if utterly ridiculous!
Man i love all that delicious penguin milk!
I knew they could do it! They have been told that they couldn't fly since they day that they were born. But they dreamed it, and it happened! True, CGI was used to make it happen, but they flew! Yippee!
I read on newsru.com (a russian news site) that BBC had broadcast this as an april fools joke.
This is the best video in the history of the internet. ::snif::
Hahaha, awesome! Terry Jones FTW!
I feel bad for the Russian editor that thought the BBC was trying to trick people into thinking this was real for a April Fool's joke. Its just a creative ad.
it's too bad it isn't actually real. how beautiful to see the penguins fly.
super good ad.
To be fair, it IS an ad for the iPlayer, but it IS also specifically for April Fools. On the iPlayer site, the top video featured is the flying penguins, and the next one to the side is the "making of" the April Fools ad. Sadly, you can't watch it on site unless you live in the UK.
I dunno guys looks real to me! I can totally see those stubby little wings taking them thousands of miles.
Great link.
I totally believe this is real. Just like Bush's reelection!
ugh, fooled AGAIN! =/
I saw this on Discovery HD and it is similar to the ways bee's fly. Their wings are to small to lift their bodies but for some reason it just works.
Man I love April Fools.
Digital effects artists always make the shadows too clean, it always gives it away, blur for god's sake! Other than that, I thought the CGI was awesome. Great post.
mmmmm...Penguin meatwater.
har.
Hey this is awesome.
To lana - penguins do go to beaches. There are several colonies of them in Victoria, Australia, and I have even seen on on Bondi Beach in Sydney once.
I fell for the jackelope, after all I had the postcard to prove it, and now flying penguins!! Hook, line, and sinker; when will I ever learn?
Who's stealing my name? The "Miss Cellania" entries are as bogus as flying penguins! There is now, and there will always be, only one "Miss
Cellaneous"!!!!!
