Today is the 25th birthday of the Compact Disc. The first CD was manufactured at Philips factory near Hanover, Germany, on August 17, 1982.

    Hee, I remember CDs being a part of some "World of Tomorrow"-type display the first time I was at EPCOT ... so futuristic!

    I may be getting a little senile, but I swear I remember one of our older buddies in high school (much older; he was an expat Brit in his 30s ) showing off his CD player when I was 16...and since I graduated in 83 that would be 81...
