Chromatically Arranged Bookstore.

Remember the post where someone arranged their bookshelf by color? Well, San Francisco’s Adobe Bookshop (temporarily) arranged more than 20,000 used books chromatically for an exhibit in 2004!

I know of a bookstore chain from the South that used to shelve its books in an “alpha-purty” style. You would usually find the A’s on one shelf, but they would be arranged where the tallest books were on the end and the rest sloped down to the middle. Customers and booksellers alike had the devil of a time finding books. Ultimately they changed to a strict alphabetizing system.
