My little sister used to do this – though she didn’t have as many books. It drove me CRAZY because all my books were alphabetized by author and seperated by genre.

My bookshelves are sorted by color. My teenagers did it for me for my birthday in October. I love it. Photos at http://flamingohouse.blogs.com/booksinbed

I sorted my books by color too! Although I don’t have as many books either. Or maybe I do, but my bookshelves aren’t nearly as big (I’ve got a lot just stacked around the house, too, since the bookshelf is beyond full).

    Not Dewey but Hue-y!

    I apologize for the pun.

    Well, it’s certainly aesthetically pleasing.

It reminds me of my bookstore days, when we used to have the joke about the customer who’d come in wanting a book, but not knowing the author, title or subject…but it had a blue cover.

mtl artist Colin (one name…like Cher) did an installation several years ago where he did exactly this..it was a huge wall and the tones (and tomes) were beautiful

I would sort books by color… except I like thriller and horror novels
I’d have 1 shelf all pretty and colorful. Then… the rest would be nothing but black. :x
