The Best Halloween Themed Android Apps Of 2012

Remember that "there's an app for that" commercial from a few years back? Well, you'll want to add a question mark and an exclamation point to the end of that catch phrase when you browse this list of the top Halloween themed Android apps of 2012.

There's a costume picking app, an app full of horror shorts (films, I'm sure), and one that gives you a monster mouth, among the many other fun, and mostly free, apps to be found on this list compiled by Digital Trends.

They Live Among Us

They Live is a sci-fi paranoid fantasy and buddy movie all rolled into one, and it has influenced pop culture powerhouses from Shepard Fairey to Futurama with its vision of a world ruled by aliens disguised as human beings.

The premise is great, the movie is a lot of fun to watch, so it makes sense that people would want to wear that They Live look on Halloween.

Just don't be surprised if some out-of-work wrestler decides he doesn't like the look of you when he sees you wearing one of these getups!

Attack Of The Deranged Candy Sack

Beware those sugary treats you bring inside your home on Halloween night, because they might bite back!

Calvin and Hobbes have such an overactive imagination that those sugary treats have turned into a creature from their worst nightmare right before their eyes, a fun tribute to candy laced dreams illustrated by DeviantARTist croonstreet.

A Papercraft Skeleton That Likes To Stand Around

German artist Markus Fischer has created a papercraft pattern for this cute little skeleton guy so you can print him out and let him stand around somewhere in your home or office.

He won't take up much space, and he won't need any food, water or sunlight to be happy, he just needs a hand putting himself together and a flat surface to stand on.

Spooky Background Paintings From Scooby Doo

Scooby Doo Where Are You? is the supernatural superstar of TV animation, and even though the monsters almost always turned out to be a master criminal in disguise the spooky atmosphere was undeniable.

The hand painted background pieces by Walt Peregoy were an integral part of that atmosphere, and Flavorwire's got a great collection for you to investigate at the link below, so you can relive the environmental horror without the shaggy dog story.

November Is Here...Yay?

Chuck and Beans are obviously suffering from post-Halloween depression, which is characterized by an acute lack of people dressing up like monsters and nothing to look forward to but a massive turkey dinner.

No wonder the stores are already advertising their Christmas merchandise, November sucks!

Zipper Faced Jack-O-Lantern

Even jack-o-lanterns sporting zipper faces look kind of disgusting, but you gotta admire the talent and craftsmanship that went into making this pumpkin look so horrifyingly good!

It must have taken the carver hours to get that "skin" texture just right, and the fact that the skull beneath the skin has a contrasting bony texture is a really nice touch.

Bob Dylan Sings Trick Or Treat Smell My Feet

(YouTube Link)

The comedy stylings of Jimmy Fallon are at their most hilarious when he's doing an impression with music accompaniment, like this Bob Dylan styled cover of the Halloween schoolyard classic Trick Or Treat Smell My Feet.

Adding that Dylan inspired twang to this classic kiddie tune shows us what we were missing during all those playground singing sessions- the incoherent mumbling!

The Many Covers Of Bram Stoker's Dracula

Bram Stoker's Dracula is the granddaddy of modern horror fiction, and made vampires creepy cool  well before the Twilight saga made them all sparkly and lame.

Since it's original publication in 1897, Dracula has been reprinted dozens of times and therefore sported many different covers, some more graphically illustrated than others... it's a bibliophile's delight!

Her latest comic is called Scaredcited, and it's a delightfully illustrated exploration of what really scares us, under the guise of visiting a haunted house.

It'll make you go "hmmmm....I hadn't thought about that!"
