There are many difficult aspects to a career in library science, but the easiest part of a librarian’s job has to be sticking barcodes and other tracking labels on book covers and spines without obscuring the title.

This seemingly simple matter of finding a blank space and attaching a label can turn into a nightmare when the label turns an innocent book on sewing into something far seamier

The original Grand Theft Auto games left a lot to be desired in terms of visual interest and storyline, especially when compared to GTA 3 and beyond, but they did have one thing going for them- a unique, police chopper style view of the action.

This aerial perspective made the characters look like well-armed bugs running around an urban environment trying not to get busted as they boosted cars and mowed down the competition.

YouTuber votja paul decided to recreate those high GTA 2 feels with a drone camera, an HUD overlay and some careful shot planning. I guess this video proves playing Grand Theft Auto actually does make people want to act out scenes from the game in real life! (Video contains NSFW language)

Even though Marvel movies like The Avengers and Captain America are rated PG-13, advertising related to movie merchandise try to appeal to a younger demographic when they make action figures, Happy Meal toys and other merch based on the characters in the movie.

That means kids who are too young to attend the movies by themselves are nevertheless extremely interested in seeing their favorite superheroes on the big screen, which is a big mistake…for the filmmakers.

Esquire’s Stephen Marche sent an anonymous nine-year-old to see the Avengers (with parental accompaniment, of course) and, long story short, he was not impressed.

The language seems to have been liberally edited by Stephen, but the message is still there between the lines- the new Marvel movies aren’t really for little kids, they’re for adults who grew up reading Marvel comics and want to feel like a kid again.

Growing up around a shop of any kind, a marvelously cluttered place used by mechanics, builders and others to make and repair stuff, means understanding the value of that wondrous fluid in a can- WD-40.

German seems like a difficult language to learn, but when you discover how easy it is to create names for things in German by simply stringing words together it doesn't seem so hard to learn after all.

For instance, which two words would you put together to describe a sloth?

If your answer was "lazy animal" you nailed it!

Now a hippopotamus may seem harder to describe in two words, but if you combine their favorite river with a similar animal type you've got a rather apt description of a hippo (although I would have added "pig" in there somewhere)

And then there's the virtually inexplicable platypus- a strange hybrid creature that could be described as an otter duck or a duck billed beaver or simply a plate full of platy, but the German language streamlines the description quite a bit

Most digital artists use 3D modeling software to create all kinds of eye pleasing, and extremely realistic looking, virtual objects which are easily mistaken for real life objects. But 3D software can also be used as a force of evil or, in this case, mind boggling strangeness.

These totally warped characters were created by digital artist Lee Griggs by using photographic textures applied to bizarrely deformed models for his appropriately titled series Deformations.

Some of them are square pegs, others look like their heads have fallen victim to a tornado’s torrent, and this poor guy looks like he has one heck of a sinus headache! -Via Ufunk
