A Time-Lapse Stop Motion Trip Around The City Of Light

(Video Link)

The City of Light is full of so much beauty that it has to be seen in person to be fully appreciated, but this time lapse stop motion short by Mayeul Akpovi called Paris In Motion Part 4 does a great job of showing off the finer points of Parisian beauty.

Mayeul compiled thousands of still photographs to create a visually compelling portrait of Paris, taking the viewer on a virtual tour that's a bit jerky, a bit brief, but way cheaper than heading there in person! And if you like what you see make sure you check out parts one two and three in the series.

Incredible Animation Generated By Code That Fits On A Floppy Disk

(Video Link)

As video game quality goes up so does the size of the assorted files needed to play the game, and video games have gone from a miniscule hundreds of kilobytes of data to file packages too big to fit one one Blu-ray disc. However, there is one thing working behind the scenes to help keep those file sizes manageable- the algorithm.

Revision is a programming demoparty held in Saarbrücken, Germany each year that plays host to digital artists and programmers who want to show off their skills, and the standout at this year's party is this 64k intro called The Timeless.

It was created by a demoscene group called Mercury, who used procedural generation to generate the music and graphics in real time, and despite the fact that it weighs in at less than 64 kilobytes of data The Timeless sports impressively robust sound and visuals.

Meet Street Art Pioneer Dan Witz

(Video Link)

The name Dan Witz may be unknown to those who think street art begins and ends with Banksy and Shepard Fairey, but his outlaw artworks paved the way for the fame enjoyed by many today, fame which has eluded Dan because he's in it for the art, not the notariety.

Dan started his street art career in the late 70s with little painted birds and cleverly rendered slogans. He then moved on to creating unique installations that look like people stuck behind grating, and nowadays he's part of the gallery scene, creating amazingly detailed paintings of mosh pits.

Animal New York created this brief yet highly informative mini-doc about Dan Witz, which is a must see for street art fans and those who wonder how it all began.

Star Wars - Bad Foley Edition

(Video Link)

Star Wars is one of the most beloved sci-fi franchises of all time, and both the special effects and the movie soundtracks still hold up decades later.

A big part of the original trilogy’s charm is the fun foley sound effects created specifically for the films- they're so iconic you can tell a lightsaber from a blaster rifle from a TIE fighter just by hearing the sound, but what would Star Wars be without those iconic foley sound effects?

YouTube user Hudson Hongo brings us Star Wars: Bad Foley Edition in an effort to prove just how important sound effects are to those wars in the stars.
