The Sing Along Anthem Of The Summer - Tiesto's "Wasted"

(Video Link)

Tiesto is the name of a EDM artist who loves to fill his life with electronic color, and he’s accompanied by singer Matthew Koma on this libatious track that’s sure to become the summer anthem for party people everywhere- Wasted.

The colorful video may cause many party people in the house to go into a trance, but hardcore fans will find it’s easy enough to sing and dance along while staring at the video screen without losing the beat.

This may not be your kind of song, or my kind of summer jam, but if you can't stand the song just mute the sound and treat your eyeballs to the colorful motion graphics.

MMA Fighter Saves Dolphin's Life While On Vacation

MMA fighters are trained to take their opponents apart with their bare hands, and any one of them would make one heck of a human killing machine, but that doesn’t mean they do harm wherever they go.

In fact, one particularly animal friendly MMA fighter named Cathal Pendred actually saved the life of a young dolphin, which he discovered beached and injured while taking a seaside stroll with his girlfriend in Doonbeg, Ireland.

Cathal picked up the dolphin and brought it to a less rocky part of the coastline with deeper water so it could swim to see another day. And to think- he didn't even have to pretend to be a marine biologist!

Improv Everywhere's Strange Mannequin Mob

(Video Link)

The benefit of flash mobbing a location with choreographed dance routines for the sake of viral video creation is debatable, but a mob that takes over a department store to pose as mannequins and spread fear among the shoppers, now that's just plain strange!

Improv Everywhere recently mobbed en masse while dressed as mannequins, invading a Gap store in New York and freaking out the shoppers who spotted these strange people posing as mannequins.

A store clerk quickly called the cops, and members of this strike-a-pose mob were summarily detained without incident, which raises the question- what exactly did they accomplish with this strange act of mannequin mobbing?

Jean-Claude Van Damme Versus Tobias Funke

(Video Link)

Jean Claude Van Damme is an actor and badass martial artist who can do the splits in the most epic ways possible. Tobias Onyango Funke is an Analrapist, wanna-be Blue Man and one heck of a husband dad actor Never Nude.

These two men may seem like they have nothing in common, aside from their terrifyingly high levels of testosterone, but they share a really simple connection- they have both recorded green screen video footage made available to fans for use in contests and various projects.

Doug Sakmann is a big fan of both Tobias and JCVD, so he decided to create a video that would do them both justice- by combining their green screen footage into one action packed battle in the back alley. It's fabulously fake and awfully ridiculous!

An Edible Business Card Made From Coca Leaf

(Video Link)

The war on drugs has applied an unfair stigma to the coca leaf due to its connection to cocaine, but in high altitude cities like Cuzco, Peru chewing coca leaves is a necessary part of life, and can help keep travelers from suffering the effects of altitude sickness.

A backpacker’s hostel called Kokopelli has come up with a clever way to advertise their location to tourists- they’re handing out business cards with a coca leaf in it, so when needed the traveler can pull the leaf out and chew on it to help relieve the symptoms of "being on high ground".

It’s a clever way to deal with a common problem in Peru and get your hostel’s name out there at the same time.

The Amazing Homes Built By Animals And Insects

Spinifex termite mound- Northern Territory, Australia

Vogelkop gardener bowerbird- Western New Guinea, Indonesia

Baya Weaver- Namibia

Just because animals and insects build homes out of necessity rather than the advancement of architectural design doesn’t mean that their constructions aren’t sturdy enough to withstand the elements, and they're aesthetically beautiful as well as fully functional.

Their construction crews don’t follow plans or blueprints to get the job done, and yet the structures that they build are so organically perfect that we humans find ourselves in awe of their building skills, and sometimes adopt their methods and materials.

These spectacular earthen homes are featured in wildlife photographer Ingo Anrdt's new book Animal Architecture, which is a visual celebration of the structures built by animals and insects from around the world.

Tiny Hamsters Eating Tiny Burritos

(Video Link)

Tiny food items are cute, tiny hamsters are oh so cute, but when you see a tiny hamster chowing down on a tiny burrito your heart may not be able to handle all the cuteness!

The hamster in this adorable video doesn’t know just how lucky he is- with a personal chef making ridiculously tiny burritos for him, and his own little hamster sized dining area complete with poker chip plate and fancy rope chair.

He doesn’t seem to care about anything but shoving those burritos into his mouth as fast as he can. However, the chef seems to be satisfied with the results, so the series Tiny Hamsters Eating Tiny Burritos by Hello Denizen will live on to see another episode!

A Visual Effects Breakdown Of Only God Forgives

(Video Link)

Watching a visual effects breakdown is kinda like watching a beloved film being deconstructed right before your eyes, with all the magic stripped away in favor of clinical examination of process and point-by-point examples of what was done to the original footage to create the desired effect.

VFX supervisor Martin Madsen presents us with an enlightening, and totally bloodsoaked, analysis of the visual effects used in Nicolas Winding Refn's film Only God Forgives, and if your stomach can stand the ultraviolence you'll discover an interesting display of how much work goes into a modern movie, and the detail oriented nature of the viz fx industry.

Old New York Crime Scene Photos Superimposed On Present Day Locations

Browse through a selection of crime scene photos from any major city and you’ll find a bunch of locations that look familiar, since most major cities have a degree of similarity to their architecture and layout.

However, if you superimpose them over a photo of the location in present day you’ll see a rich story unfolding about a city’s history, and the sordid crimes committed on those mean streets.

Historian at the New York Press Photographers Association Marc A. Hermann has been busy compositing vintage crime scene and modern photos together in an interesting series that reveals New York's colorful- New York City then & now: Famous Daily News photos brought back to life.

Atari Landfill Has Been Excavated - Did They Find E.T.'s Corpse?

(Video Link)

Well, they done did it- the notorious Atari landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico has been excavated, and its contents have been shown to be- tons of Atari 2600 E.T. video game cartridges!

While it’s not surprising that it wound up being full of (arguably) the worst video game ever, it is surprising that Atari spent so much time and energy trying to convince the world that they weren’t crazy enough to dump thousands of cartridges in the middle of a landfill.

We’ve got your number now Atari, and that number is 1-800-PHONE-HOME. So what is the original game designer Howard Scott Warshaw going to do with all those cartridges? It appears another mystery is afoot!

Iconic Pop Culture Characters Get A Zombie Makeover

It seems like the zombie virus truly knows no bounds these days, and whether you’re real or imaginary you may want to stay more than an arm’s length away from your buddy who keeps going on about how good brains taste.

Illustrator Albert F. Montoya has given us a fresh reason to fear pop culture icons, as he turns them into the putrid undead and reveals the smile of death beneath their skin.

His fun drawings are reminiscent of the artwork created by old school skateboard brands like Santa Cruz or Powell Peralta, and his colorfully foul creations look like they'd make great characters for a zombie themed animated series.

What It Was Like To Work In A 1980s Taiwanese Animation Factory

Cartoon show creators like Matt Groening and Seth McFarlane may get all the glory, but most of the work is done by a factory full of animators who earn way less than their American counterparts to bring that show to life.

Theirs is a somewhat thankless job, and the work they do is rewarded with little more than a credit line and the satisfaction of knowing their skills as an animator grow immensely with each project.

Jamie Baker was one of these animation factory workers before he went on to work on projects like UP and Finding Nemo, and his account of working in a Taiwanese animation factory in the 80s entitled One Flew Off To CUCKOO'S NEST is entertaining to read, reveals much about the process of making an animated show happen, and may be a bit disheartening to budding animators who hope to someday land a job in the industry.

Music Video Inspired By Leisure Suit Larry

(Video Link)

Leisure Suit Larry was a seminal video game franchise in ways which the Rated E crowd may not approve of- it brought sexual themes into mainstream gaming, it introduced alcohol and drugs as gameplay elements, and it starred a selfish, lascivious character who was only out for a good time.

While the parents of young gamers may feel like the LSL games are pure smut, adult gamers enjoyed the opportunity to get their freak on in a fun new way.

This goofy music video by DJ Todd Terje is called Leisure Suit Preben, and it captures the boozy haze of the Leisure Suit Larry video game series while giving the new generation of lounge lizards something they can shake their rump to!

The Still Of The Night In New Orleans

New Orleans is a mysterious city full of dark folklore, a shadowy past, and yearly events full of drunken debauchery and things you cannot unsee, but for many the highlight of visiting the Big Easy is the city itself.

Boasting an extremely diverse range of architectural styles, from Creole cottages to shotgun houses and bungalows, New Orleans is a great place to take in the sights- especially in the still of the night.

Photographer Frank Relle rediscovered a deep love for his hometown of New Orleans after graduating college, so he decided to share his love of the Big Easy by taking long exposure nighttime photographs. They're eerie, visually compelling and full of unique charm- just like the City That Care Forgot.

An Expert Level Coloring Book For Big Kids

One of the main reason adults outgrow coloring is the simplicity- they’re just too easy to color, too easy to stay between the lines, and that’s no fun. It’s not like adults don’t want to color anymore, it's just not as satisfying as it was when we were kids, and our more advanced minds demand a more challenging coloring book.

Enter Peter Deligdisch’s expert level coloring book Between The Lines, it’s jam packed with intricate line drawings that will test your coloring skills, and when you’re done you have the satisfaction of having created something you can pin up on your refrigerator!
