Geeky fashion designs are all the rage, and even though there seems to be no shortage of new pop culture inspired fashion lines coming out few of them truly seem to understand the whole idea of an effective style crossover.

This new series of geeky couture designs by Sara Richard called HautePopC clearly demonstrates the power of an effective crossover, with the overall design of each character, including accessories and signature wardrobe, fully incorporated into each fashion design.

Doc Brown and Marty have never looked more ready for a time traveler's ball, but I'm not sure Abe Sapien would be okay with showing so much skin!

Taking a cruise aboard a massive ship full of people ready to unwind and have a good time on the high seas can be fun, or a total nightmare.

In the case of “Cruising” by Zachary Zezima the cruise becomes a disturbing and disorienting swirl of color, with fragments of reality attacking a poor boy who can’t seem to handle this surreal sea voyage.

The hand drawn, and often painterly, style of animation is reminiscent of old school shorts by Priit Parn, or one of those delightfully offbeat shorts you'd see on Sesame Street during the 70s and 80s, and the psychedelic style of the short enhances the overall feel of the kid freaking out.

Sculptures that look like they're made out of one medium but are actually made out of something completely different are fun to check out, both through pictures and in person, because your mind has a hard time reconciling the fact that the item you're looking at is not what it appears to be.

Take these summer dress sculptures by Alasdair Thomson for example- they look like lightweight cotton dresses that would feel like nothing at all when worn, but if you were to strap these solid marble sculptures on you'd probably throw out your back!

The texture of the marble only seems to add to the illusion, giving the surface of each piece the look of raw cotton.

The creators of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headgear, and those making similar VR devices, are hoping to usher in the new age of fully immersive video games, and with full immersion comes funny looking rigs that help make the whole experience complete.

The custom built rig in this photo is called Birdly, and as the name spells out it simulates flying like a bird, complete with a fan and a scent machine to round out the experience.

Birdly was created by a team at Zurich University, and if Birdly is any indication of what’s to come the virtual reality future is going to be chock full of crazy contraptions!

Being a delivery man in the future looks a little too easy, like they should have replaced you with a robot or remote control drone long ago level of easy, and while lazy deliveryman Johnny is busy dreaming his life away he inadvertently finds himself on a collision course with his destiny.

Okay, so maybe it's not as epic as all that, but JohnnyExpress by Kyungmin Woo for Alfred Image Works is one sharp looking animated short, a gem that could easily be expanded into a series of shorts, and Johnny is such a likably lazy fellow he could easily be played by Ron Swanson or a cat...or a cat that looks like Ron Swanson.

Horror movie baddies come in all shapes and sizes, but there’s one form of monster that nobody ever seems to see for what it really is, one unassuming structure that lies in wait for its next victim to move in.

The monster house is one of the most underrated villains in the horror genre, and movies like the House series and Monster House have used the spooky domicile with horrifically comedic effect, bringing the dark nature of horror home.

Vienna Waits For You is a horror comedy short by Glaciar Films, directed by Dominik Hartl, that shows why you should always have a priest on hand when you move into a new house!

When you’re a clone trooper conformity is key, and your shiny white armor is not to be tampered with under penalty of Sith law, but if they were allowed to customize their casing they’d be a lot easier to tell apart!

If the Kaminoan armorsmiths that create clone trooper armor started reading Marvel comics they might design some suits that look like these superheroic illustrations by Jonathan Bolerjack, the ultimate standouts in a sea full of shiny plastoid.

Jonathan does a great job of making the mashup feel natural, even in the case of Hulk's massively oversized armor, and they're all so shiny that any clone trooper would be proud to take a blaster bolt to the chest while wearing on of these stylish suits.

At a glance the works of Katharine Morling look like scratchy sketches of everyday objects, but upon closer inspection, if you can take a closer look, you’ll find that they’re actually a bunch of delightfully unique porcelain sculptures.

Katharine's mini masterpieces have that illustrative look about them thanks to the meticulous outlines she paints onto each piece, and when they’re photographed against a white background with the proper lighting the hand drawn illusion is complete.
