Famous Album Covers Superimposed Over The Original Locations Where They Were Shot

So many album cover photos have been shot in New York City that you could spend days touring around the city trying to match all the photos up with the original location, or you could check out these photos by Bob Egan and save some time.

(cover by Rama)

Bob has spent years tracking down the spots in NYC where bands like Ramones, Simon & Garfunkel, Herman's Hermits and Steely Dan shot their cover photo, and he posts all his finds, including maps and detailed notes, on his website PopSpots.

(cover photo by Raeanne Rubinstein)

Bob is a real estate agent who takes his hobby very seriously, so in addition to all that info he shares on PopShots he takes the time to perfectly match up the superimposed album cover up with a photo of the original location.

That way you can really see what photographers like David Gahr, Raeanne Rubinstein and Bill Silano saw in the location they chose for those iconic covers.

Side-By-Side Examples Of How Disney Recycled Animation In Later Films

Disney animators literally wrote the book on creating incredibly lifelike animation and characters that come to life on the screen, it's called The Illusion Of Life by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston.

And in the beginning Disney artists and animators came up with all kinds of clever yet time-consuming ways to make their animation look better than any of the stuff the other studios were putting out, setting the bar high for this relatively new artform.

But hard times hit Disney's feature animation division in the late-60s, and budget cuts forced the animators to find new ways to keep a cohesive look yet cut down on the cost of the animation process.

So they decided to recycle old sequences with similar characters in similar situations to make something old new again in half the time and for far less money, the same reason they introduced 3D backgrounds in films like Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

Now Disney animator Wolfgang Reitherman claims they didn't start recycling clips to save time or money but because they "wanted to stick to what they knew would do well", but I'm sure it didn't hurt that they were saving money as well.

A Dark 'Riverdale'-Style Parody Of 'Peanuts'

Archie and the Riverdale gang are so sappy sweet, and their adventures are so tame, that their comics are suitable for all ages, which is a strong selling point for Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang too.

But these days even G-rated franchises like Archie and Peanuts have received gritty R-rated reboots, so it was only a matter of time before these two super vanilla franchises became mashed up in a parody video.

Thankfully, Jimmy Fallon did a pretty great job of showing what Peanuts would look like as a Riverdale-style crime drama, and he even found a way to work in the Peanuts dance!

The Homeless Woman Who Made Photo-Booth Art

Many homeless people struggle with identity issues, since most people who end up on the streets go through a period of adjustment and feel like they've lost touch with who they were in their former life.

But those who try to maintain their identity as their life falls apart around them often find creative ways to make a record of their lives, using writing, art or photography to express themselves so others can see what they're going through.

Outsider artist Lee Godie spent three decades living on the streets of Chicago from the 1960s to 1994 when she passed away, and during that time she never stopped making art, mainly Impressionistic mixed media and altered Photo Booth photos.

If you were lucky enough to meet Lee at a train station or on the steps of the Art Institute of Chicago and she liked the look of you she would offer to sell you some of her art, and Lee is now "Chicago's most collected artist":

She made drawings and paintings with whatever materials she had to hand. She then sold them to commuters on their way to work—but only if she liked the look of you. If she didn’t—then Godie rolled up her portfolio of pictures, put them under her arm, bid you “Good day” and moved on to the next potential buyer. That’s an enviable, if bloody-minded determination.

For Godie chose to live on the streets. She had money—enough to keep her dry, warm and snug. But she preferred living rough. Why? No one seems to be quite sure. At night, in sub-zero temperatures Godie slept on “a concrete bench…clutching her large black portfolio” of artworks. How Godie ended up homeless is open to conjecture. What is known she was married twice and had four children. After the deaths of two of her children, Godie began her life living on the streets in the 1960s.

Hilarious Reviews For A Prank Fart Spray Called 'Liquid Ass'

You wouldn't expect a prank product named "Liquid Ass" to be pleasant, but this concentrated stink spray is so foul smelling it should probably be removed from the market and destroyed- so the stink doesn't take over the planet.

Liquid Ass is a hit with those who want to drive people crazy by messing with their sense of smell, and these pranksters have been sharing their experiences with us via product review so we don't have to stink up our own homes.

Personally, I wouldn't let that stuff within fifty yards of my house even if I were the one pulling the prank, but to those who are brave enough to prank someone with a spray that may permanently ruin whatever you spray it on we salute you.

Silicon Valley's Dumbest Inventions Of 2017

The brilliant minds who work in the tech industry have given us lots of amazing inventions that have improved our lives in many ways, simplifying many common tasks and connecting us all like never before.

But their inventions have also changed the way we interact with each other and the internet-connected world, for better or worse, which is why some people argue their inventions have actually complicated our lives.

And while their groundbreaking and life-altering inventions are clearly brilliant it seems 2017 was the year of reinventing the wheel for Silicon Valley.

Did we really need a brand new mailbox strictly for Amazon packages or an indoor tent so people can have more personal space? Not really, but the Amazon Hub and the Pause Pod were 'invented' anyway.

And speaking of inventions that don't make our lives any easier- the app-enabled vending machine Bodega was made to be more convenient than convenience stores, but considering we can't even get old school vending machines to work properly this product was destined to fail.

Modern Art Simplified

The names given to modern rrt movements don't always tell you what to expect when you go to a gallery to stare at some art, and that makes these movements a bit daunting for the novice art appreciator.

How the heck are you supposed to know if you like De Stijl, Futurism or Fauvism if you have no idea what these names mean?

Maybe this simplified guide to modern art by John Atkinson of Wrong Hands comics will help you make sense of it all, and when you're in the gallery remember- the trash cans, benches and velvet ropes are not art...or are they?

The Worst Episodes In Otherwise Great TV Shows

It's tough for screenwriters to write dozens of episodes a year without dropping the ball on a few of them, and these unexpectedly bad episodes become the few fumbles the fans ignore and snarky bloggers never let them forget.

Star Trek: The Next Generation is one of my all time favorite TV shows, but the way they phoned it in with the clip show that took place inside Riker's mind makes me angrier than a Klingon who just ran out of bloodwine.

And speaking of heavy-browed brutes- what the hell were the Buffy the Vampire Slayer writers thinking when they wrote that episode about Buffy turning into a cavewoman because of something in her drink?

As bad as those two episodes were there's an episode of King Of The Hill that's far worse- because it's so annoying and cringe-worthy it's virtually unwatchable.

In the episode Hank is bullied by a little boy, which makes no gaht dang sense, and his singsongy taunt really gets under your skin, even more than his pathetic parents who I'd want to slap if they were real people.

Guy Shares His Unforgettable McDonald's Drive-Thru Experience On Twitter

When you head out to get some fast food in the middle of the night you expect to find a skeleton crew of usually no more than two or three running the restaurant and dealing with the mostly crazy people coming in at such a late hour.

You don't expect to receive great service or to find the employees in a great mood when you drive up to the window, but everything Josh Raby tweeted about his experience in the McDonald's drive-thru at 1 a.m. is unexpected- and bizarre.

Maybe Josh is a comedy writer who made it all up, or maybe he embellished a bit about the weirdness he experienced on his midnight Mickey D's run, but if it's all true that place should fire the entire graveyard shift immediately!

Students Create Amazing Chalkboard Art That Their Teacher Wipes Away Every Day

Chalkboard art has an interesting textural quality that makes it look quite different than other mediums, and while other mediums are prized for being colorfast and long lasting a chalk drawing can be erased in an instant.

This ephemeral beauty is part of what makes chalk drawings so special, and no matter how much time an artist puts in to creating their chalk drawing they know the board will be wiped clean in the end, their masterpiece strictly temporary.

A group of high school students from the Heep Yunn School in Hong Kong who call their art group Illusdreamer spend hours creating these massive and amazing chalk art tableaus knowing they'll be wiped away whenever their teacher needs to use the board again.

However, Illusdreamer shares their awesome chalk artwork on Instagram so they'll live forever, and they also share some process videos on the Illusdreamer YouTube channel so they'll always remember the good times they had creating each piece.

Nervous Reporter Reluctantly Picks Up Brain-Shaped Blob From A Vancouver Lagoon

Watching The Blob made me wary of picking up anything that reminds me of a blob, but the reporter in this video obviously doesn't have these horror movie-related phobias imprinted on her brain.

And although she is a bit nervous as she scoops a massive, slimy brown brain blob thing out of the Lost Lagoon of Stanley Park she's not as nervous as I would be about the slimy encounter.

Her name is Martha Perkins of the Vancouver Courier, and although Celina Stames of the Stanley Park Ecological Society watched over Martha as she scooped up the blobby mass (which was a colony of single-celled animals called bryozoans) there may still be blobby repercussions.

If you should hear about Martha's "disappearance", and the authorities discover a puddle of slime in her empty apartment, remember Martha for her bravery and her curiosity in the face of blech-inducing blobbery.

A Secret Rave Found By Entering Through A Porta-Potty Door

When raves were underground and highly illegal events held in lofts and warehouses they used to have all kinds of fun ways to conceal the location of the party from the police, the most fun being the secret door.

There was something so magical about stepping through an ordinary door into a club full of flashing lights and bumping beats, but what sort of rave would you expect to find on the other side of a porta-potty door?

At the 2017 Sziget Festival in Budapest attendees who knew the inside poop could head to a "secret" rave by entering a specific porta-potty, but as this video by Rave Jungle shows it was more of a gimmick than a well-guarded secret.
