Social realist painter Stevan Dohanos was probably referred to as “Rockwell inspired” more than a few times during his career, but that's partly due to the fact that he also had his artwork featured on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post.

But just because Dohanos didn't become a household name like Rockwell doesn't mean he's wasn't every bit as good as Rockwell, because he was a really good painter.

Of course, you're not trying to knock Dohanos and his paintings down, you hardly know the guy, right?

That's a crying shame, because his paintings perfectly capture scenes of modern cluttered madness, middle class disillusionment and old souls feeling a bit lost in the mid-century world.

Dohanos' paintings are like the cynical antidote to Rockwell's sugar pill, which makes them instantly more relatable and far more visually compelling.

Most Disney villains weren't born bad, they were twisted and gnarled into creeps by the cartoon universe and should really be categorized as misunderstood rather than evil.

And this explanation for their foul deeds would make a great opening statement for the defense if Disney villains like Captain Hook, Gaston and Ursula were brought up on charges.

Redditor ineed_one_more_lette recently started an interesting conversation via Reddit thread by posing the question:

Defense lawyers of Reddit: what would your defense be for various Disney villains?

The responses were surprisingly well thought out and extremely character appropriate, like this defense of Gaston's behavior towards The Beast from DailyBrainGain 1750:

He was a hunter by nature and there was a deadly beast in his village. He rightfully took a militia and attempted to seize the beast. Girl taken hostage, father taken hostage previous to her, the beats servants and maids were all essentially hostages. I mean I still feel for Gaston. If Belle didn't have that weird fetish this would make an awesome rescue story!

Gaston would've called instead of showing up late at night with torches and pitchforks but he didn't know the phone number of the beast.

Suddenly I feel like shaking Gaston's hand for being such a stand up guy!

Movie posters don't mean as much to a film's success as they used to, but that doesn't mean movie poster designers should give up their craft, because their artwork is still an important part of a movie's identity.

But some designers have simply given up on making creative movie posters, and instead they spend all of five minutes to create something lackluster, like these two slapped together eyesores.

Some vintage movie posters seem cheesy by today's standards but didn't seem so awful when the movie first came out, so categorizing them as “the worst” isn't really fair, more like "the cheesiest".

But when terrible actors and a terrible Photoshop collage collide on a poster for what is (arguably?) one of the world's worst movies we all win the terribleness trifecta!
