It's Important To Be Honest With Your Children

When your little ones start playing dress up, and find their way into your makeup, be honest with them about how silly they look or they might start painting their faces like clowns during adolescence.

I don't know if I would put a bag over my child's head, at least not without cutting a few eyeholes in the bag first!

Weird Poems Accompanied By Even Weirder Drawings

Alex Sparks and Bret Hawkins are collaborating on a project called The Ninety-Nine Draft, which features oddball illustrations based on short "poems" meant to conjure strange mental images.

The accompanying drawings have an extremely unique graphic style that reveals the inherently serious nature of phrases like "all my friends have antlers" and "I am becoming a mountain of puberty".

Animated Short - Life By A Thread

(YouTube Link)

Animator Jim Segrue is part of the award winning team at Titmouse, the folks responsible for shows like Metalocalypse, Superjail and Black Dynamite, but this time he's stretching out his wings and flying solo.

His newest short Life By A Thread details an alley cat's search for warmth during those cold winter months, and the only thing this squashy, stretchy character animation smearfest seems to be missing is a suitable soundtrack.

Anybody have access to a theremin? Or a musical saw and trombone?

Dragon Sculpture Made Out Of Oil Drums

Chinese artist Qiu Zhijie created this magnificent metal dragon sculpture out of old oil drums, in order to signify "tension between the natural and modern worlds".

The face and body are covered in details so sharp they'll take your hands right off if you're foolish enough to try and pet the dragon.

What a fitting, and ecologically friendly, way to celebrate the Year of the Dragon!

Don't Mess With The Hob-Bot

(YouTube Link)

He's come from the future to save the Shire's past, one goofy looking Orc at a time.

It seems folks are getting impatient waiting for Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Hobbit to hit the big screen, so hopefully these ridiculous furry footed comedy videos will continue to hit the interwebs!

Scary Cool Catrina Costume

Photo: Anna Fischer/Flickr

La Catrina originated in the Jose Guadalupe Posada's print entitled La Calavera de la Catrina (the skull of the rich woman), and has since become one of the most recognizable symbols of Mexico's Dia De Los Muertos celebration.

Catrinas wear pretty dresses, with spots where their bones show through, a big hat and lots of colorful flowers.

Catrinas have a bony skull face, but that doesn't mean they have to be scary. In fact, most Catrinas prefer to be elegant rather than gruesome.

Look Out! There's A Vicious Goose On The Loose!

You know your building's security has become way too lax when they post a note on the door about the dangerous goose on the loose, instead of simply shooing the thing away.

The note wouldn't be nearly as believable if the culprit weren't posing for the picture with that murderous gleam in his eye!

Ack! My achin' kneecaps...

Strange And Cinematic Photographs By Alena Beljakova

Photographer Alena Beljakova has a story to tell, one which Hollywood directors should take note of and viewers are free to get lost in.

It's an extremely well formed vision for a nineteen year old, but I think that's what makes Alena's photos so special.

She's going to keep telling her tales, hopefully for a long time to come. And we may just get to the bottom of why those people wearing the bunny masks look like they're up to no good...

A Wacky Bunch Hard At Work In The Kitchen During Mardi Gras

Would you still eat at a restaurant that had a kitchen staff like the madcap bunch in this picture?

Well, if you were looking for a bite to eat during Mardi Gras in Munich, Germany around 1933 you might not have had much of a choice in the matter!

Looking for more enjoyable pictures of people playing dress up? Then you should check out our new Halloween blog, it's a great place to park your eyeballs for a spell.

What If Pixar Made The Expendables 2?

(YouTube Link)

Wacky mashup videos abound, but this one's got the slurred tough guy tones of Stallone mixed up with the slick shiny look of Pixar's Toy Story movies.

I don't think this movie would have qualified as family friendly entertainment, what with all those plastic body parts being blown across the screen!

Grand Theft Auto- Dragon Style

(YouTube Link)

If you feel the mean streets of Liberty City are looking less than fantastic these days then this wacky mod, created by Taltigolt and Indirivacua for Grand Theft Auto IV, will make your day.

It lets you play as a dragon from Final Fantasy XI, complete with fire breath and Skyrim inspired shout noises for some odd reason...

I didn't know that people still played the GTA IV?!

Comic Book Characters You Shouldn't Dress Up As For Halloween

Superhero costumes are all the rage, and it's only a matter of time before people start looking for more obscure character costume choices.

However, while you're looking for a different kind of hero you might want to avoid the comic book characters on this list, or people may look at you funny when you go out on Halloween!

A Version Of Bert & Ernie That Might Scare The Kids On Sesame Street

Photo: chattingjason/Flickr

Dressing as Bert and Ernie for Halloween can be a great buddy costume idea, but it can also be a horrifyingly creepy look if you're not careful.

If you're going to represent the Street that Henson built, at least paint a smile on your face, for the sake of the kiddies!
