(Video Link)

Graham and Fiona Haddow decided to leave their boxer Fern in the car for about twenty minutes while they visited an art gallery, but Fern wasn't having it.

He started honking the car horn, telling them it was time to go, and didn't stop for a full fifteen minutes until they came out!

Their first mistake- leaving the dog in the car in the first place, which is just plain wrong, especially if you're doing something totally unessential like visiting an art gallery.

They're lucky Fern didn't deposit a big, steaming pile of disapproval on the driver's seat!

Scientific Research Shows The Five Second Rule Is True

(Image Via Shutterstock)

The five second rule is one of those schoolyard myths that seems to make no sense as you learn more about germs and bacteria, but as it turns out the playground talk was true- if you pick food up off the ground within five seconds it’s (relatively) safe to eat.

Students from Aston University in Birmingham, England, led by microbiology professor Anthony Hilton, conducted a study that focused on how E. Coli and Staphylococcus aureus are transferred to many different foods from many different floor types.

They found that "time is a significant factor in the transfer of bacteria from a floor surface to a piece of food", meaning it often takes longer than five seconds for the bacteria to adhere to the food.

A note by Professor Hilton:

Consuming food dropped on the floor still carries an infection risk as it very much depends on which bacteria are present on the floor at the time; however the findings of this study will bring some light relief to those who have been employing the five-second rule for years, despite a general consensus that it is purely a myth.

Animated Cartoon Dissections By T- Wei

The colorful illustrations and GIFs created by T-Wei have a sense of motion built in to each character design, like a cartoon dissection in progress with lots of squiggly bits, a colorful peek underneath the skin that really comes to life in Tea’s body splitting GIFs.

Interactive viewing reveals the joy of cartoon surgery, as a bunch of fairly square folks are opened up to reveal the wriggling masses that lie beneath their skin.

They say the only way to truly understand someone is to know what lies beneath the surface, so those who live in T-Wei's mind are total squares with a lot of guts.

Minimalist Animated Intro For Game Of Thrones

(Video Link)

The hit show Game of Thrones is as popular, if not more popular, than George R.R. Martin’s book series that inspired the show, and fans are gearing up for another dose of grim fantasy in the upcoming fourth season.

But if you can't remember where all the characters are in the world of Westeros and Essos you may want to consult this minimalist intro that’s also a handy guide to every character’s current location, which was created by student animators Mathilde Loubes, Jory Bertrand and Alison Dulou from Atelier de Sevre in Paris, France.

The overall design scheme is simple yet elegant, and the only problem with this intro is they've identified everyone by their real names so unless you know the actor that plays every character by name you may still be a bit lost.

Wolf + Unicorn - An Unlikely Relationship Told Through Animated GIFs

Wolf and unicorn have a very touchy relationship, it’s always bite and get bit when they’re together, and they’re both prone to random acts of violence.

They’re codependent in all the right ways, and even though their relationship teaches us something about predator and prey getting along in the wild it's also full of macabre twists and turns, a colorfully chaotic relationship unfolding on Andrew Benson's GIF Tumbler Wolf + Unicorn.

Wolf + Unicorn is more than just pretty little polygonal pictures- there's a story building that will rival the greatest love stories ever told, and I can't help but think of Andrew's series as a sign of GIF webcomics to come.

The DIY Weapons Of The Ukranian Revolution

The riots in Kiev, Ukraine, which subsequently turned into a full blown revolution, weren't started by soldiers or police officers, they were started by average people willing to fight for their rights against a corrupt government.

DIY weaponry is the norm among the freedom fighting citizen soldiers that form the front lines, and these weapons look like something straight out of a post apocalyptic movie.

Photographer Tom Jamieson has chosen to document the DIY weapons of the Ukranian Revolution in a totally artsy way, taking them out of the fray and simply showcasing the brutal ingenuity and crude beauty of each weapon.

And even though you can't see the wielders in these photos you can somehow get a sense about them simply by looking at their choice of arms.

Kevin Bacon Explains The 80s To Millennials

(Video Link)

It’s hard to believe by looking at him, but Kevin Bacon has been acting in Hollywood since 1978, so if he can’t explain the importance of 80s Awareness to Millennials then nobody can.

Let two time Saturn award nominee Kevin Bacon explain to the young folks born after 1985 how the danger of getting nuked by the Russians while skateboarding to the store made life in the 80s one wild ride.

It's a good thing we had those comfy parachute pants on when the Russians invaded...oh wait, that's the plot of Red Dawn. My bad.
