I love cooking with my kids. The only problem is that my kids are really little (1,3,& 4) so I have to stick to projects that are simple and fast. I actually made ice cream cone cupcakes with them using this exact method. They loved them!
Warning: Don't over fill the cones! I did that with my first batch and it resulted in an unevenly baked mess.
Do you know a Mama-To-Be who is missing sushi? You need to check out Etsy seller Sisterina's Baby Washcloth Sushi Set. This idea is so simple and sweet. I know it is not as tasty as the real thing, but it's the thought that counts.

Saturday Night Live and Tina Fey spoof Bravo's Pregnant In Heels.
I admit it, I am kind of a Bravo junkie. I hardly ever get to watch Pregnant In Heels because it's past my bedtime, but I have seen it a few times. If you have seen the show I think you will find SNL's take hilarious and spot on.
Last week we posted about Connor Kurtz running for his local school board. Now, take a look at Jed Gagnier. Jed is a High School junior in Michigan. This motivated teen just won a seat on his local school board.
Jed was one of four candidates for the Escanaba Public School Board and won as the highest vote getter with 152, based on unofficial results from the Delta County Clerk's Office.
It is now 89 weeks and counting since The Baby was born. She now has an even bigger personality, she is still beautiful, and she finally might have, sort of, said "Mama". Can you believe it! I'm still in shock. Talk about a wonderful early Mother's Day present.
Yes, I think The Baby finally slipped up this week. I am not positive, but I am pretty sure she accidentally called me Mama. It only happened one time and I couldn't get her to repeat the word. When I asked her to repeat the word she just poked me in the eye and said, "eye." The whole experience has left me teary eyed, but the stinging did finally go away.
I am feeling extremely optimistic that week 90 will the week The Baby finally starts calling me Mama. This Boss Lady will keep you posted.
May 5 is Children's Day, when families celebrate the healthy growth and happiness of children. It became a national holiday in 1948, but it has been a day of celebration in Japan since ancient times.
Due to the tsunami and earthquake, today has also become a day of reflection. We should all take a moment out of our busy day to send well wishes to the people of Japan, especially the children.
While I have been busy finger-painting pictures of the cat with my kids, parents in the UK have been making Ancient Greece Crafts with their kids. In fact, Activity Village has a fantastic list of Ancient Greece Craft projects you can do with your kids.
You can:
Make a Greek mask
Make a Greek shield (aspis)
Make a Greek Vase
Make a Medusa Wig
Make a Medusa headband
Make an Olive leaf crown
Make an Olympic torch
Make an Olympic medal
I love the Make a Greek Vase craft. I think my budding gardeners would really enjoy this project.
Are you looking for some soft baby books for your budding scientist? Etsy seller VerdantViolet has some wonderful handmade books that might be right up your alley. Baby's First Molecular Genetics Book is one of my favorites.
Cover: The double helix Page 1: A chromosome with histones and wound DNA (chain stitch, of course) Page 2: Replication fork Page 3: Protein translation
I wonder if this little beauty will put the baby to sleep like my Organic Chemistry book used to put me to sleep. That alone might make the book worth every penny.
A UK company is attempting to make bath time a goo time with their Gelli Baff product. No, not a good time. I mean a goo time. This is an additive that turns water into goo.
Firstly sprinkle the "goo former" (Stage 1) evenly over the surface area of the water (try to avoid adding large clumps of powder as this will take longer to form the goo) and watch as it magically turns the water into a fun, thick goo. Once the kids are finished playing, evenly sprinkle the "goo dissolver" (Stage 2) into the water, leave it for 5 minutes and watch the goo turn back into water.
Kids love it in the bath, in outdoor kiddie's pools, or even in a small bowl or sink.
The stuff is even supposed to be great for the skin.
Is advertising coming to a school bus near you? It sure seems that way.
In this tough economy schools are looking for new ways to make a few bucks. Companies like Roadmark, Inc. know that and are busy soliciting cash strapped schools. This company alone claims to have placed exterior and interior ads on thousands of school buses already.
